Modern slavery

At Navitas, we not only pride ourselves as leading education providers, but we also take our responsibilities to identify and mitigate risks to our students very seriously. Due to the risk of human rights and modern slavery being prevalent in the international education sector, it is our duty to help students understand this important topic.

Modern slavery is a global issue that affects millions of people, often in hidden and complex ways. It can include forced labour, deceptive recruiting and human trafficking.

As an organisation, we are dedicated to preventing and eradicating this issue in all its forms by increasing awareness among our students. We have an important role to play in creating a world where all individuals enjoy the dignity and rights they deserve.

What have we done so far?

Modern slavery training

Increased awareness on modern slavery and human trafficking among all Navitas staff across all our divisions worldwide.

Modern Slavery working group

This working group was formed to lead, support and progress Navitas in the identification, assessment and mitigation of Modern Slavery risks to students during the student life cycle across the global business.

Education agents

Identified as one of the risk areas, we continue to work towards the following:

  • Improving agent awareness on modern slavery and human trafficking risks.
  • Analysing trends through data on student and agent behaviours.
  • Strengthening our agent monitoring systems to include consideration of modern slavery and human trafficking risk indicators, such as the non-enrolment of a student.
  • Ensuring that information relating to agent behaviour is aggregated and shared globally.
