Course Calendar

Hawthorn-Melbourne offers regular start dates throughout the year. Some courses are open to new students every Monday, while others have fixed start and end dates.

Please see below for the course dates for your preferred course options.

Entry requirements for each course are available on our English Levels page or in our course progression chart.

  • General English is available from Elementary to Advanced levels
  • General English is based on cycle dates allowing 10 weeks of study for each level. Students can start their studies at any week in the cycle.
  • Entry requirements can be found on our English Levels page.
  • Students can elect to take a holiday break during the course at a time suitable to them. Please let us know the preferred holiday dates at the time of application.

Notes:

  • While students progress at different rates, it is recommended to allow 10-weeks of study for each level of study.
  • Entry to IELTS Preparation requires an Advanced Level of English.
  • IELTS Preparation is based on the cycle dates below. Students can start their studies at any week in the cycle.
  • Entry requirements can be found on our English Levels page.

  • Students studying IELTS Preparation as part of an English language pathway to one of our pathway partners are required to complete 10 weeks of continuous study.
  • English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is offered at 2 levels
    • English for Academic Purposes 1
    • English for Academic Purposes 2

University of Melbourne English Language Bridging Program Preparation (UMELBP Prep)

Students will have two independent study/research days scheduled during the 10 week course.

  • A holiday break can be planned between levels if required. Please let us know if this is required at the time of application.
  • English for Business is subject to students having the correct level of English and there being sufficient student numbers to run a class. Students will initially be placed in a General English class but may change to English for Business if a suitable class is available during their study period. English for Business topics and activities are incorporated into the General English curriculum at appropriate stages in each level.

Students studying General English or IELTS Preparation may elect to take a holiday break during their course as per the below table.
