Accreditation & Quality Assurance

Accreditation & Quality Assurance

University of Melbourne

Hawthorn-Melbourne is endorsed by the University of Melbourne as a provider of English language intensive courses for overseas students in Melbourne. Hawthorn-Melbourne is the sole external provider of the University of Melbourne English Language Bridging Program.

Accreditation

In Australia, two agencies monitor and regulate the quality of international education: the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

They were both established by the Australian Government to make sure education providers and courses meet quality standards. Together, they protect international students studying in Australia. They are responsible for regulating the quality of English language colleges like Navitas.

As an international student, your rights are protected by law under the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000. They include:

  • your general well-being
  • the quality of your education experience
  • your right to up-to-date and accurate information.

Visit the Australian Government’s Study in Australia website for valuable information about your rights and responsibilities as an international student studying in Australia.

TEQSA

Hawthorn-Melbourne is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

TEQSA’s main responsibility is to check whether higher education providers are providing quality education that meets independent standards. TEQSA regulates providers with pathways to higher education and assures the quality of their courses with the ESOS Act 2000.

English Australia

Hawthorn-Melbourne is a member of English Australia. English Australia is an organisation of English language education providers in Australia.

Quality assurance

Hawthorn-Melbourne is a part of the Navitas Group. Navitas has a specialised team that leads internal quality assurance against our own policies and procedures.

We are continually looking to improve at all levels. When we find a better way of doing things, we take action. This way, we can satisfy the diverse accreditation requirements for all our schools and courses. And when we open new schools, we have documented processes to follow to make sure we do it right.

Navitas has auditors who regularly check and monitor each school and course, to make sure they continue to meet all the regulatory and accreditation requirements. Audits maintain consistency and help us continue to improve.
