Your Arrival in Melbourne

There are two airports in Melbourne, Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) and Avalon Airport.

Melbourne Airport is the main airport for Melbourne. We advise students to book their flight to arrive at Melbourne Airport.

Avalon Airport is located 55km from the city centre. If your flight lands at Avalon, please see transport options to Melbourne city centre here.

Airport pick-up service

We can arrange to meet you at Melbourne Airport and take you to your accommodation. Hawthorn-Melbourne use the airport pick-up service Togoto Australia.

How to find your Togoto driver at the airport

If you are arriving from overseas (international flight)

When you exit the customs area, turn right and walk towards the Vodaphone store in the International Arrivals Hall. Near the Vodaphone store you will find your Togoto driver waiting for you, holding a yellow sign.

If you are arriving from another city in Australia (domestic flight)

The Togoto driver will be waiting at the domestic luggage carousal for your flight (Domestic Baggage Claim) holding a yellow sign.

Togoto vehicles can only carry two large suitcases and one pull-along suitcase/ backpack per person.

Togoto vehicles do not take oversize luggage such as boxes, surfboards or golf clubs. If you have extra or oversize luggage you may need to make other travel arrangements.

Private taxi

Official taxi ranks are available outside of the airport terminal. Taxi fares can vary on the distance travelled, time of day and travel time. Local taxi companies include: 13CABS and Silver Top.

Express airport bus

SkyBus offers an express service between Melbourne Airport and the city centre. Buses operate 24 hours a day and depart the airport every 10-15 minutes. You can purchase your ticket online or at SkyBus e-kiosks at the airport.
